I've only been riding a couple of months but I've "ducked" a few times to miss birds.
Just last week, a wasp flew into my shirt and stung me three times (once on my chest and twice on my back) before I could get stopped and strip off my helmet and shirt right next to the highway. I bet I looked pretty funny to passerbys! Well, it wasn't funny to me. It felt like I was on fire!
